When it comes getting your hot-tub wired, take careful consideration to whom you choose to wire it. Anytime you wire something from your homes electrical system to outside of your house, things are a bit more sophisticated on the the wiring techniques. Knowing how to install electrical wiring legally and up to code on outdoor installations, and especially for hot-tubs, takes a commercial electrician. Here at Absolute Electric we are trained and experienced in both residential and commercial wiring, not like a lot of our competitors who only know residential wiring.
Hot-tubs require GFCI protection within site of the hot-tub, but no closer than five feet from the edge of the hot-tub. They also require an insulated and over-sized ground wire, which romex (standard house wiring) does not support. The correct way to wire a hot-tub, is to run the wiring in conduit from the panel all the way to the control box at the hot-tub, so you can pull the correct ground wire that is required. Having your hot-tub wired correctly could be the difference in coverage under your warranty, in the event that you have any problems with the hot-tub or any of its equipment in the future.
